20 Best PS4 Games For Girls

Let us now take a look at the best PS4 games for girls. Take note however that these games can be enjoyed by all genders as well.

1. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

The Crash Bandicoot franchise is a classic series of games that are great for every person of any age and gender. They’re tough as nails, sure, but they’re also entertaining to play as the platforming is great even after all these years. In addition to this, the N. Sane Trilogy’s release in 2017 gave it better graphics and overall replayability. There’s also the ability to play as other characters. Overall, a great PS4 game for girls and boys to play.

2. Horizon Zero Dawn

The next game on our list is Horizon Zero Dawn, an Open-World action/adventure RPG created by Guerilla Games. Players take on the role of Aloy, a Brave of the Nora Tribe. Her skills are going to be put to the test in a world where mecha dinosaurs and bandits roam. It’s the player’s job to help Aloy defeat these threats and to uncover her hidden past. Overall, the game has a lot of unique gameplay features that any gamer can learn and enjoy. Overall. This is one of the best PS4 games you’ll ever get to play on the console and it’s a great idea to get it. Especially since Horizon Forbidden West is here already. And it’s a good idea to know what happened in this game first before tackling that one. Certainly one of those PS4 games that are not only for girls but also for boys.

3. Minecraft (PS4)

The next game on this list is Minecraft, and yes, Minecraft is on the PS4. Though it’s a modified Bedrock edition. Honestly, the game is truly everywhere at this point. The main premise is, of course, the same. Plop into a blank canvas of a world filled with dangerous entities, and survive. Go around, get materials, create whatever you want, and in general, just have a good time. If you’re not a fan of survival modes, you can go for Creative, where the whole Minecraft world is your oyster. If you’re still not satisfied with the OG Minecraft, there are also several add-ons that players can get on the Minecraft store. These add new things like blocks, new mobs, and even new gameplay mechanics. It’s cool to see how much Minecraft can be modded, even on a PlayStation. If you’re someone that wants to flex your creativity, then getting Minecraft is a good idea.

4. Sims 4 (PS4)

Next on this list is the Sims 4 by Maxis, The Sims Studio. A lot of people would’ve already known about the Sims games. However, the Sims 4 is the culmination of a great many things that Maxis learned about the genre. In addition to this, the Sims is a pretty tame game, something that children, or girls, can start playing when young. Of course, adult themes are unavoidable (Making a family involves some shenanigans after all). However, the is overall a game that can be played by all ages and of any gender. It also helps that it is pretty addictive, as the ability to create your world and characters is a really big draw.

5. Cuphead

Next on this list, we have a 2-player/single-player game by the name of Cuphead, a run-and-gun game created and released by Studio MDHR. The player follows Cuphead and his pal Mugman who got into a spot of bother when they got into debt with the Devil himself. To not get their souls sucked out of their bodies, they have to get the souls of other debtors. And well… That’s not gonna be an easy quest. Now you might think that a game about dealing with the Devil’s debtors isn’t a great girl game on the PS4, but hear me out: It’s fun, and the game offers quite a bit to the girl playing the game. However, for those that want a bit of cooperation, never fear. This is a 2-player game but one that can be played single-player. You and your pal would need to help Cuphead and Mugman defeat the various debtors and clear the slate clean. Unless of course, you want to defeat the Devil himself? Anyhow, if you’re playing with another gal, then Cuphead is a great game to go for. It’s tough as nails, true. But the sheer hype of defeating the various debtors and eventually the Devil is indescribable.

6. Just Dance

For those that want to stay a wee bit more active, they might want to try out Just Dance. It’s exactly what it says on the tin, and you can dance to 40+ songs from various artists and genres. Fan favorites like Ariana Grande and Queen are included. You can even download more songs on Ubisoft’s Just Dance Unlimited Subscription service. Do note though that it’s a monthly subscription. So make sure to keep an eye on various songs you want to get then get them quick. Once you’ve downloaded them, you can simply dance the night away.

7. & 8. Overcooked 1 and 2

The next games on the list are Overcooked 1 and 2, which, if you can’t tell, is a crazy co-op cooking game with high stakes. You can play this with 4 players, and your goal is to compete, or work together, to create perfect, immaculate meals within a time limit. You’re pretty much required to cook as fast as possible to get every order out to save the Onion Kingdom. The time limits are going to be an absolute killer though, and keeping a close eye on it is crucial. Overall, this is a pretty fun PS4 game for girls to go for. Simply boot up your PS4, have a few friends in, and just play with them and enjoy the sheer chaos. A perfect way to connect with your gal pals.

9. Journey

Journey is an overall surreal universe and experience to play. However, it’s a game that took the world by storm. Some even regard it as one of the best Indie games ever created for the PS4. But for this article, we’ll just say that it’s one of the best PS4 games for girls to play. The scenery is great, the mysteries are interesting, and the scope of the game’s world is pretty cool. The goal of the game is to discover lost legends, ancient civilizations, and to reach a mountain summit. Pretty simple, all told, but as you can probably tell, it’s the journey that’s important, not the destination. Seriously, play Journey. You won’t regret it. It’s great to play, has good controls, an easily obvious goal, and great gravitas.

10. Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Without a doubt, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a really good game. You play as Kena, someone who guides spirits to their next life. It’s an interesting thing to see. You guide Kena to a village that just experienced a terrible disaster, and there are a lot of trapped spirits there. As a spirit guide, it’s your job to make sure they find peace. Gameplay-wise, your main purview is exploration throughout the game’s world. With some additional combat and puzzles here and there. If you like exploration spiced with some combat and a compelling story, get Kena: Bridge of Spirits.

11. Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal is a kind of, sort of sequel to the base Persona 5 game. Mostly because it’s very similar to it, with the only changes being a few additional things on the game’s story. Specifically, the addition of new characters and stages that have an impact on a playthrough. Still, it’s a game that puts you in a school, then on a Meta world where Cognition is key and perspective is relative. Your characters are Phantom Thieves who use Persona, masks turned into notable heroes and mythological creatures. Overall, not a typical girl game. But the added dating sim elements and school life is what make Persona 5, and all other Persona games interesting and fun. Pick this up when you have the chance. Its story alone is a roller coaster.

12. Flower

The next PS4 game for girls on our list is Flower, an art/adventure game that puts you in a minimalist dream world. The visuals are great, colorful, and surprisingly captivating. Your girl can see the whole world coming to life while you control the petal storm. Overall, it’s a pretty short game, only lasting for an hour. However, it’s very relaxing and calming. A perfect way to end any hard day.

13. Knights and Bikes

Next, we have Knights and Bikes, an action-adventure game with Goonies inspiration that puts players on hand-painted 80s scenery. The game places players on a fictional British island with main protagonists Demelza and Nessa. The two quickly bond together as friends, and their love of exploration. Thus, after settling down, they set off to explore the island they now live on. With their bikes, powers, and pet goose Captain Honkers, they establish the Penfurzy Bicycle Club and start their grand adventure. This is where some weirdness starts to creep up. After all, there are a lot of things hidden in their new island home. They’ll need all the guile and maybe a pinch of the power of friendship to prevail. Oh, and lots of scrap and trinkets as well. You can’t go around the island on a bike without customization. You can play Knights and Bikes either single-player or preferably co-op. Do note though that if you play single-player, the game is easier as it’ll take control of the 2nd character you aren’t using.

14. Yooka-Laylee

Yooka-Laylee is the next game on this list and it’s a colorfully loud and bright game for anyone, especially girls, can enjoy. You play as Yooka and Laylee, the titular chameleon(Yooka) and bat(Laylee) respectively, and navigate five giant worlds. Your job? Get as many pagies as possible to beat the evil Hivory Towers Corporation. It makes sense in context and in-game lore, trust us. The worlds look great, the gameplay has a lot of enemies to fight and puzzles to solve, and the story is a bit on the interesting side. You also control the dynamic duo in some 3D platforming. Overall, if you’re a fan of the old Banjo Kazooie games, get Yooka-Laylee. It’s a bit on the rough side, sure. But it’s honestly a good game and one of the best PS4 games to release on the year it came out.

15. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

The next game on the list is girl power to the max, Blood Stained: Ritual of the Night. Created by ArtPlay, it’s a Castlevania clone with a lot of personality and charm, with a whole lot of cool mechanics. You play as Miriam, an orphan with a disease that crystalizes her skin but gives her magical powers in exchange. Your friend, Gebel, has holed himself in a gothic castle filled with demons. As his former friend, it’s your job to kill him and remove the demonic infestation. As per usual with a Castlevania clone though, said a castle is a massive place. And you’ll need to backtrack quite a bit if you want to discover everything. However, with grit, tons of Powerleveling, and a bit of luck, you can go to the throne room and beat the game. All told, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night might’ve been a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night clone, but it’s a well-made one. Pick this up for the PS4 when you have the chance.

16. Abzu

Next on this list of best PS4 games for girls, we have Abzu. This is a more relaxed game compared to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, as your main goal is to just keep swimming. That’s it. Keep swimming down under the ocean depths and find out what’s hidden there. Who knows, you might find long-lost secrets in addition to some gnarly and cute sea creatures. If that’s your jam, or you’re looking for a more relaxed gaming experience, get Abzu. It’s a treat to see.

17. Tomb Raider Reboot

The next game, or games, on this list, is the reboot trilogy Tomb Raider games. The first one is Lara Croft’s origin story, where she, and a few of her friends are trapped on the island of Yamatai. This would be Lara’s trial by fire, and it’s here that she’s reborn into the badass, gun-toting, enemy-blasting badass we know and love. It’s kinda inspiring, to be honest. A girl in over her head, and not sure of herself, decides to take matters into her own hands and rescue both herself and her surviving friends. The next game in the series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, is a direct sequel to the first reboot. It has Lara go around the world searching for clues about what happened in Yamatai. Well, she’s mostly on Russia at this game but we digress. In this one, though she runs afoul of an ancient evil organization known as the Trinity and fights them throughout the game. She also fights them in the last game of the Reboot trilogy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Where Lara accidentally caused the Mayan apocalypse. Whoops. Anyhow, the 3 Tomb Raider Reboot games are great and worth a playthrough or 5. It’s all-girl power, all the way in these 3 games.

18. Tearaway Unfolded

Unfolded Tearaway is the next PS4 game for girls on this list and it’s a bit on the weird side. Mostly because every character and thing in the game is made out of paper. Tearaway Unfolded is a rerelease of the PS VITA entry back in 2013, and you play as Atoi whose job is to deliver packages. This is a bit of a difficult job though, as “Scraps” AKA the game’s monsters, overrun the papercraft world that Atoi lives in. It’s your job to navigate this world and ensure that Atoi is safe. All in all, it’s a pretty creative game, and another pretty relaxing one. Definitely a good one to pick up.

19. Paradise Lost

The next one is a pretty somber entry, Paradise Lost, which takes place in 2021. World War 2 didn’t end clean. World War 2 wasn’t clean by any definition, but it lasted for 20 more years. That’s already pretty bad, but the worst part is that the Nazis found a way to create nuclear weapons. You can guess what happens next after that. You play as Szymon, a Polish kid way over his head. His mom just died, he’s just 12 years old, and he’s now living in a post-apocalyptic world after the Nazis launched nukes willy-nilly. He’s searching for a man his mother cherished dearly. Was the man his father? An important individual? Maybe a relative? He doesn’t know. However, during his wanderings around nuclear wasteland Poland, he discovers an intact bunker. Being a curious boy, he goes inside and investigates what’s in there. However, he’s not alone, as there’s someone in the bunker named Eva who guides him around. Paradise Lost is harsh, somber, and tells a story about the lengths humans are willing to go to survive. There were people in the bunker once, and the story of its abandonment is something Szymon will discover as you walk its empty halls. Perhaps there’s an ending in this desolate place, but if it’s a happy one, well, you’ll just have to play the game and find out.

20. Forager

Last but not least on this list of PS4 games for girls is Forager, an open-world adventure game that mixes a bit of Minecraft, RPGs, and cuteness. Lots of cuteness. You do the typical survival stuff of exploring the land, gathering the resources needed for survival like food, wood, and ores, building tools, et cetera. However, there’s also puzzle-solving in dungeons, using magic to do shenanigans, and a whole lot more that can be done to improve your lot in Forager. If your island is getting too small for you, you can buy more islands to go at using coins. Overall, a great game to pass the time with and just have a relaxing few hours of gaming. Pick this game up, it’s well worth the money.

What Makes A Good PS4 Game For Girls?

There are a few things that make a good PS4 game for girls to play, but we’ll talk about just 4. Here are the factors yo should consider when buying PS4 games for girls.

Story

The story aspect is pretty obvious. Some games might not need it but for others, it’s necessary. After all, how can you care about something if you don’t know the story behind it? How can you be invested if your characters don’t have any backstory? Overall, if your story isn’t interesting or fun, you’re not gonna attract any players. Do note that this isn’t necessarily the case for some games (Minecraft for example). But maybe a few snippets of backstory about the game world might be a good idea to go for.

Character Development

Next is character development, which is important for story-driven games. Having your characters improve themselves in a myriad of ways drives the story forward. It’s a great way to showcase how far you as a player have come in the game you’re playing. The sheer satisfaction of seeing your characters improve is a good dopamine shot to the brain. Of course, this is only for games that have a concrete story like Persona 5 Royal on this list. But the importance of this factor is a big one when choosing the best PS4 games for girls.

Graphics

Next, we have graphics, which is a pretty obvious entry. If your game doesn’t look good, no one would be attracted to it. A lot of people tend to look at how the game’s graphics would be before they look at the gameplay. If it’s attractive and fun-looking, they’ll consider buying the game. It’s like a book. If the book’s cover looks good, they’ll consider buying it. Simple as that. However, a game doesn’t need to have 4K graphics to succeed. It just needs to have a fitting vibe. Games like VA-11 Hall-A don’t have graphics that can turn your console into a shuddering wreck, true. But it’s charming, and surprisingly bright and uplifting, for a cyberpunk game. Seriously though, graphics is a game’s wrapping. It’s great to have, and a lot of girl gamers would want to see great graphics in the game they’re playing. However, its main goal is to make the game more appealing to players. The real meat of any game is its gameplay.

Gameplay

The gameplay is last on this list. A tried and true sentiment amongst gamers. If your gameplay is trash, no one would play. This is true in any game, from farming sims to Elden Ring. Gameplay is essential in games. Some would say that graphics is king, but great gameplay elevates great graphics and turns a good-looking game into a legendary one. However, this all depends on what genre your game is. RPGs for example, require not only great combat but also great mechanics when outside combat. True, you can pad the game up with stuff like side quests, but having too much can lead to burnout. Some games last for only a few hours, but the sheer enjoyment of gameplay elevated them to greatness. Words cannot express in totality how important gameplay is to any game. The words above are just a snippet, but it’s an important thing to note, even for PS4 games for girls to be more engaging.
